Reports: Shakib Al Hasan, a veteran cricket player from Bangladesh, has been charged with murder.

The case, filed at the Adabor police station, lists Shakib as the 28th accused. In addition, popular Bangladeshi actor Ferdous Ahmed is listed as the 55th accused. Both Shakib and Ferdous were previously members of the Bangladeshi Parliament representing the Awami League.

The case also implicates former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 154 other named individuals, along with around 400 to 500 unidentified persons, for their alleged involvement in the incident.

At the time of the incident, Shakib was touring Pakistan with the Bangladesh national cricket team as part of a two-Test series. Shakib was a member of the now-dissolved parliament led by Sheikh Hasina, who fled the country amid widespread protests in early August. Despite the political turmoil, Shakib was granted permission by the interim government to continue his participation in the cricket series against Pakistan.

As of now, Shakib has not made any public statements regarding the political crisis in Bangladesh or the murder case in which he has been implicated.
